
Biography
Alan Tafoya is an American actor, musician, and cultural consultant of Indigenous heritage. Originally from Dulce, New Mexico, Alan Tafoya is a member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation. He gained his first stage experience as a child, performing in small theater and comedy shows within his neighborhood. During his school years, he deepened his interest in acting and appeared in various theatrical productions. His professional acting career began in 1998 with the stage play *The Black River Traders*, which led to his first film role in *All the Pretty Horses*. In the years that followed, Tafoya worked in film, television, documentary, and commercial productions, as well as on the stage. He gained recognition through works such as the documentary *Dancing on the Edge!*—which was named Best Documentary at the 2005 ImageNation Film Festival in Vancouver—as well as through appearances in productions like *Deadliest Warrior* and *MacGruber*. In addition to his work as an actor, Tafoya is also active as a singer, songwriter, and musician. Furthermore, he serves as a cultural consultant, fight choreographer, producer, writer, and creative advisor for film and music projects. His work frequently explores Indigenous culture and the traditions of the Jicarilla Apache people. Tafoya resides in New York City and is married to actress and producer Cynthia L. Straus.
