Andreas Filippidis (6 January 1919 – 8 January 1989) was a Greek actor. He was born in Athens in 1919, the son of musical theatre actor Manos Filippidis. He was a graduate of the Drama School of the National Theatre and a final year student of the Law School of the University of Athens. He made his stage debut in 1943 with Mrs. Katerina's troupe in Eugene O'Neill's Strange Intermezzo, playing the role of Gordon. He played alongside Vasso Manolidou, Mary Aroni, Georgios Pappas and Dimitris Horn. He worked at the National Theatre (in leading roles from 1946 to 1957), at the State Theatre of Northern Greece and at the Free Theatre, while for some years he served as a troupe leader. He directed plays by Chekhov, Molière, Grigorios Xenopoulos and others, while for 20 years he served as a professor at the Theodosiadis Drama School. He has appeared in many Greek films. He has also recorded several collaborations with radio and television. After the dictatorship, he was elected vice-president of the Greek Actors' Union. (Source: Wikipedia)
