该剧根据《风云真空真之创世神话：高丽篇》改编而成。青龙、白虎、玄武和朱雀4神建立了高句丽后决心隐居，然而第一贵族延家利（朴相元饰）独揽兵权，野心勃勃，一心想让自己的儿子延浩介（尹泰英饰）登上王位，他勾结华天会大将（崔民秀饰）事事与谈德（裴勇俊饰）对立，阻止谈德登基。四神发现不满10岁的谈德，勇猛又仁慈，具君王之相，因此又重返人间助他脱离危险和登基广开土大王，长大后的谈德和帮助他成为伟大大王的琪荷（文素利饰）以及秀真（李智雅饰）之间展开了一段爱情故事 。
