В Эмондов Луг приезжают трое чужестранцев: седой менестрель Том Меррилин, прекрасная леди Морейн и её страж Лан. Морейн принадлежит к организации «Айз Седай» и считает, что силы тьмы охотятся за тремя подростками, один из которых — реинкарнация древней могущественной личности. Согласно пророчеству, вернувшись в мир, она спасёт человечество, навредив ему.

Тот, кто приходит с рассветом
Во время поиска артефакта на Илэйн и Тома нападает Черная Айя, а Мэт оказывается в таинственном мире, где загадочное существо Илфин выполняет его желания. Мин отправляется ему на помощь, но вскоре понимает, что это стоило ему части воспоминаний. Тем временем Лиандрин заключает сделку с Могидин, чтобы поработить Ранда.
