Miranda Myrat (Greek: Μιράντα Μυράτ, Athens 1906 – January 27, 1994) was a Greek actress. She was the daughter of Mitsos Myrat and Kyveli, sister of architect Alexandros Myrat and half-sister of Dimitris and Rita Myrat. She was a leading actress of the Modern Greek theater. From 1921 to 1923 she attended classes at the Collège Sevigny in Paris. She made her first appearance on the stage in 1919 with Marika Kotopouli's troupe in Paul Lindau's play Two Leonores. The following year she appeared in The Student Prince. In 1923 she returned from Paris and began performing with her mother Kyveli's troupe until 1932, when she was hired by the National Theatre of Athens, with whose company she appeared as a leading actress until 1938. In 1939 and 1940 she collaborated with Marika Kotopouli's troupe. In 1940 she founded her own troupe in collaboration with Kostas Mousouris, Mavrea and Orestis Makris. The following year this troupe was disbanded and another was created under the title of the Miranda and George Pappas Troupe, which gave various performances until the summer of 1942, when Miranda started a new troupe in which Mary Aroni also participated. Miranda stopped her theatrical career in the 1960s. Miranda was also an important collaborator of the National Broadcasting Foundation, who, due to her education, orthography and vocal tone, was considered an expert in reciting poems and reading literary texts, especially at literary festivals. In cinema, she appeared in more than 40 films and participated in some television series. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
