Billy Bob Thornton (nato il 4 agosto 1955) è un attore, sceneggiatore, regista e musicista americano. Thornton ottenne un riconoscimento precoce come membro del cast nella sitcom CBS Hearts Afire e in diversi film dei primi anni '90, tra cui On Deadly Ground e Tombstone. A metà degli anni '90, dopo aver scritto, diretto e recitato nel film indipendente Sling Blade, ha vinto un Oscar come miglior sceneggiatura adattata. È apparso in diversi ruoli cinematografici importanti dopo il successo di Sling Blade, tra cui Armageddon del 1998 e A Simple Plan. Alla fine degli anni '90, Thornton iniziò una carriera come cantautrice. Ha pubblicato tre album ed è stato il cantante di una band blues rock.
