Ormai anziano e immobilizzato, l'investigatore Poirot chiama il vecchio amico, il capitano Hastings, per risolvere il suo ultimo caso di sempre. Grazie all'aiuto di Hastings, Poirot fa ritorno dopo quasi tre decenni a Styles Court sulla scena del primo caso che i due risolsero insieme per evitare che un assassino geniale e senza scrupoli faccia ancora altre vittime.
