La miniserie narra della Compagnia Easy del 2º Battaglione, 506º Reggimento di Fanteria Paracadutista, 101ª Divisione Aviotrasportata dell'esercito degli Stati Uniti, e ne descrive la storia dal loro addestramento a Camp Toccoa, Georgia, durante il 1942, descrivendone l'impiego in Normandia a partire dal D-Day fino alla fine dell'avanzata alla fine della guerra.

Il nido delle aquile
La Compagnia Easy è in viaggio verso l'Austria e nel frattempo entra a Berchtesgaden, quartier generale nazista: si trovano infatti palazzi, statue e vessilli, ma nessun nemico. I soldati della Easy (in particolare il Capitano Speirs) si danno al saccheggio di tutto ciò che trovano di valore finché non viene dato loro l'ordine di salire sulla montagna sovrastante il villaggio e conquistare nientemeno che il Nido delle Aquile di Hitler. La compagnia si sposta ancora ed entra in Austria a Zell am See un posto paradisiaco sulle rive del Zeller See. Qui i soldati continuano a morire: come viene citato nel film hanno "armi, alcool e tempo". Accidentalmente, per distrazione o per ubriachezza i morti aumentano, addirittura un soldato ubriaco spara in testa al sergente Chuck Grant dopo aver ucciso altri due. La serie si conclude prima con l'assegnazione in posti privilegiati di alcuni membri della compagnia, poi con una partita a Baseball in cui viene descritta la vita successiva alla guerra di altri componenti, infine con le solite interviste ai reduci in vita di cui finalmente vengono svelate le identità. Le parole conclusive della serie sono una citazione dell'Enrico V di Shakespeare (atto IV, scena III) da parte di Carwood Lipton, da cui viene tratto il titolo:

Vedi tutto su TMDBOne of the best TV-shows of all time. This war series is one of the most realistic, accurate, detailed and comprehensive I've ever encountered. The show is overwhelming, intriguing and some episodes can squeeze a couple of tears from you. One of the few series that stuck in your head even a week after you've finish them. Highly recommended.

There are a few haters....and I mean FEW. And mostly they are of the political bend, and lets be honest, people that see politics in everything are going to hate everything. An amazing series which is incredibly harrowing to watch. Even more so when you consider this is based on real events and real people. This thing will turn you inside out, and it should. An excellent reminder of what so many seem to pay no mind to these days. "Lest we forget."
