Un caso che coinvolge narcotrafficanti e omicidi nel sud della Florida assume una piega personale per i detective sotto copertura Sonny Crockett e Ricardo Tubbs. L'anticonformista Crockett si lega sentimentalmente alla moglie sino-cubana di un trafficante di armi e droga, mentre Tubbs è alle prese con un'aggressione ai danni delle persone che ama.
