Rashomon
Kyoto, periodo Heian. Un boscaiolo, un monaco e un vagabondo si interrogano su una vicenda, l'assassinio di un samurai e lo stupro di sua moglie per mano del bandito Tajômaru, che li ha coinvolti come testimoni. Mentre si susseguono le dichiarazioni dei protagonisti davanti a un tribunale sulla loro versione dei fatti, la verità anziché emergere sembra vieppiù allontanarsi. In un Giappone ancora dilaniato dai lasciti del dopoguerra, Kurosawa Akira ritorna a un'altra epoca di morte e sofferenza, quel periodo Heian in cui di fronte alla porta del tempio di Rashô non scorrevano che sangue, violenza e frode.

I rarely ever give a film a perfect score, but undoubtedly Rashomon deserves it. I first watched this film at the tender age of 8, so 6 years ago now, and it has lodged deep in my head ever since.
