C'est la fin d'une époque. Bartlet et son administration se préparent à quitter la Maison Blanche et à faire leurs adieux à tout ceux qui les ont accompagnés pendant ces deux mandats. L'aile ouest est désormais accessible pour le nouveau président. Pendant que Santos et ses partisans préparent minutieusement la cérémonie d'investiture, les sortants, Bartlet, CJ et les autres, se souviennent avec nostalgie des moments importants qu'ils ont passés dans ces murs. L'heure est difficile pour Bartlet et son équipe, mais l'ancien président a encore une toute dernière décision à prendre, qui est loin d'être la plus simple : doit-il pardonner à Toby ?
