
Pieces of a Woman
Vivant à Boston, Martha et Sean Carson s’apprêtent à devenir parents. Mais la vie du couple est bouleversée lorsque la jeune femme accouche chez elle et perd son bébé, malgré l’assistance d’une sage-femme, bientôt poursuivie pour acte de négligence. Martha doit alors apprendre à faire son deuil, tout en subissant une mère intrusive et un mari de plus en plus irritable. Mais il lui faut aussi assister au procès de la sage-femme, dont la réputation est désormais détruite. Pieces of a Woman est une chronique intimiste et déchirante de la vie d’un couple, et le portrait bouleversant d’une femme qui doit apprendre à faire son travail de deuil.

'Pieces of a Woman' demonstrates how sometimes, even despite everyone trying their best, dark outcomes happen, and we don't always get an answer for why. I feel like I can’t review “Pieces of a Woman” without first addressing the elephant in the room: the horrific and violent abuse claims against lead actor Shia LaBeouf. I totally get why this film has so many award nominations. The film deals with a difficult, very real, subject - how the loss of a child affects the relationships of those around him/her. But honestly, outside of a tremendous performance by Vanessa Kirby, this film is just average or worse. The subject was so much more finely dealt with in the brilliant Ordinary People.
