Madame Nguyễn Thị Định (15 March 1920 – 26 August 1992) was a Vietnamese revolutionary, general of the Vietnam People's Army during the Vietnam War and the first female Vice President of Vietnam. Often regarded as one of the most outstanding figures in modern Vietnamese history, she led an all-female insurrection ("Long-Haired Army") against the French colonial regime in Ben Tre Province (1945), as well as the Ben Tre uprising against the U.S.-backed Diem regime (1960) along with various espionage campaigns, and became deputy commander of the South Vietnam Liberation Forces.
