A writer of sci-fi thrillers lives a happy life: two wonderful children, a caring husband, work she loves, and a cozy home. But one day, it all begins to crumble. A guest moves into the house—and it is as if the whole world turns to ice: her children grow distant, and her husband no longer trusts her. Rita sees things that no one else does: a halo in the sky, frost on the windows, the ghost of a deceased friend. She cannot tell whether she is imagining it all or not.
